Job Description-Avionics Technician

The Avionics Technician performs inspection, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, removal and replacement of aircraft instruments and avionics components using various hand tools and test equipment to meet manufacturer's specifications, FAR's, industry standards, and Repair Station General Operating Manual (RSGOM). This position may communicate and interact with customers regarding aircraft technical issues.

Essential Job Functions

1. Troubleshooting, testing, repairing, replacing avionics and instrumentation systems installed in various airframes using hand tools, test equipment, technical documents, and technical reference material. Inspects components and aircraft systems as needed.

2. Describes work completed on the work order and properly documents removal and installation of aircraft parts and components according to Abilene Aero approved procedures.

3. Maintains and cleans test equipment and an organized work area as required.

4. Communicates and interacts professionally with internal and external customers regarding the customer's aircraft, within area of expertise.

5. Attends factory and Company technical classes and participates in OJT to increase technical skills and proficiency.

6. Accompanies flight crews to perform in-flight troubleshooting and adjustments and performs pre-flight evaluations of avionics and instrument systems.

7. Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Job Specific Requirements

• Licenses/Certificates: Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record

• Attendance: Regularly scheduled attendance required; on-call and occasional travel

• Physical: Routinely up to 50 lbs., occasionally up to 100 lbs.; comfortable in confined space work, able to read small print and identify colors; hears sounds associated with mechanical deficiencies; repetitive motion; works with moving parts and vibration; tolerates products and materials associated with component maintenance; tolerates standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing, and sitting

• Environmental: Tolerates working in extreme temperatures and noisy environments

Education and Experience

• Minimum one-year avionics, electronics, airframe maintenance or related experience preferred, some experience in General Aviation Installation is a plus.

• Military or airline avionics experience welcome
