We are hiring Finish Carpenters in Obetz, OH. The Finish Carpenter is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the assigned carpentry-centered production jobs to completion, ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency. This role is responsible for assessing the conditions of the job, planning time allotment, tools needed, order of work, and workload for the team, and adjusting for conditions, making changes from the original job order as needed. The Carpenter/Foreman-Carpentry leads a highly skilled crew to install and provide solutions that meet customers’ needs, troubleshoot issues that may arise in the course of installations, ensures customer satisfaction upon completion of the job, coordinates tasks and assignments, assigns duties and monitors the progress of a project to keep it on track regarding time and budget.

Job Responsibilities of a Finish Carpenter:

  • Lead production projects involving: Metal Stud Framing, Hanging & Finishing Drywall, Painting, LVT Flooring, Drop Ceilings, Pre-Hung Interior Doors, Baseboard & Casing Trim
  • Taking measurements and preparing the site.
  • Installing drywall
  • Installing fixtures and fittings such as handles, locks and hinges
  • Select and also evaluate materials for potential defects
  • Reading and interpreting designs to meet specifications.
  • Liaising with clients, suppliers and other tradesmen
  • Following all standards for remodeling projects
  • Performing finish carpentry including trim and flooring a
  • Installs walls, floors, ceilings, materials such as: wood, steel, metal, plastics, and composites of multiple materials.
  • Fits and installs window frames, doors, door frames, door hardware, interior trim using a carpenter’s level, plumb bob, and laser levels.
  • Studies specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required.
  • Shapes or cuts materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saws.
  • Follows established safety rules and regulations and maintaining a safe and clean environment.
  • Builds doors, frameworks, floors, or other wooden fixtures used in buildings, using woodworking machines, hand tools, or power tools.
  • Assembles and fastens materials to make frameworks or props, using hand tools and wood screws, nails, or glue.
  • Removes damaged or defective parts or sections of structures and repair or replace, using hand tools.
  • Inspects ceiling or floor tile, wall coverings, siding, glass, or woodwork to detect broken or damaged structures.
  • Moves necessary materials around jobsite as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What is required to join our team as a Foreman:

  • High School diploma or GED preferred
  • 2+ years of construction-related field leadership and installation experience preferred
  • A valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company standards
  • Knowledge of carpentry
  • Ability, skills and capacity to operate equipment and/or power tools and train others to operate them
  • Ability and willingness to train, motivate and inspire crew members
  • Strong organization and time-management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Availability to work flexible days/hours to include weekends, as needed
  • Strong communication skills, ability to motivate, and be a team player. 
  • Must have a valid, non-restrictive driver’s license.

Physical requirements:

  • The position lifts heavy objects and/or up to 50 lbs., walks and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor.
  • The employee lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue; and effectively lifts and carries heavy loads.
  • The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand and arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination. It also requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs.
  • The employee must have excellent stamina.
  • Seeing with the ability to read reports, data, statistics and information on computer screens are required.
