Position Summary: Approx. 5 people in Accounting dept. Entrepreneurial fast moving organization. The Sr. Accountant will perform accounting functions for assigned property(s) working under the technical direction of the Assistant Controller and has a strong reporting relationship to Property Management. The position is oriented to providing service and financial reporting for numerous commercial real estate properties, and support to the Accounting Department’s internal and external clients. These include Property Management, Asset Management, other departments within the company, vendors and outside parties and investor reporting.
Main Responsibilities / Essential Functions:
- Maintain the property book and records in accordance with investor policy and procedures.
- Prepare monthly financial statements for multiple commercial real estate properties, condominiums, and associations.
- Prepare monthly entries for prepaid entries, accrued liabilities, depreciation, amortization, etc.
- Performing general ledger balance sheet reconciliations to ensure data accuracy.
- Review bank reconciliations prepared by Staff Accountant.
- Monitor cash balances and review GL disbursements.
- Review the final monthly accrual basis financial statement reporting packages compiled by Staff Accountant.
- Ensures month-end closing deadlines are met.
- Responsible for annual recoveries of property operating expenses, rent escalations, property billing, adjustments, tenant set-up, accounts receivable and payable, review of cash receipts and disbursements for property portfolio.
- Prepare the monthly property management fee calculation for review and approval by Assistant Controller.
- Prepare for Assistant Controller and Property Manager review and approval, the annual estimated escalations to be booked as accruals by year end and billed to Tenants in the following year.
- Assist property management and Assistant Controller with preparation of annual property budgets.
- Assist with compilation of requested support documents for investors, financial institutions, internal members, as needed.
- Assist in the coordination of special projects and financial analysis.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field is required.
- 3-5 years of experience in accounting and financial statement preparation is required. Property Accounting experience is preferred.
- CPA is preferred.
- Understanding of basic accounting principles and possesses high degree of accuracy and time management skills.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams is a plus.
- Yardi experience is preferred.
Hours: 8-5 onsite F/T
Salary: $75-80K Flexible DOE + Bonus + Excellent benefits
