Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Purchasing Specialist to join our team at Apical Instruments, Inc., a leader in medical device manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement, specifically with experience in managing Bills of Materials (BOMs) and sourcing Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs). This role requires excellent organizational skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

The Purchasing Specialist reports to the Director of Operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Procurement Management: Source and procure components and materials required for the manufacturing of medical devices, ensuring timely delivery and cost-efficiency.

Supplier Relations: Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiate contracts and terms to secure the best quality and pricing.

BOM Management: Oversee and manage the procurement of materials listed in the Bills of Materials (BOMs), ensuring accuracy and completeness in alignment with production requirements.

PCB Sourcing: Identify and engage with reliable suppliers for Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), ensuring compliance with industry standards and specifications.

Inventory Control: Monitor inventory levels to ensure an adequate supply of materials for production while minimizing excess stock.

Quality Assurance: Collaborate with the quality assurance team to ensure all procured components meet the required standards and specifications for medical devices.

Cost Management: Continuously evaluate and optimize purchasing process to reduce costs and improve efficiency.

Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all purchasing activities, including orders, invoices, and contracts.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Engineering , Production, and Quality Assurance teams to understand and meet their material requirements.

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all purchasing activities comply with relevant regulatory requirements and standards specific to the medical device industry.

Qualifications:

Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a purchasing role within the medical device manufacturing industry or a related field.

Technical Skills: Strong understanding of Bills of Materials (BOMs) and experience with Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs).

Software Proficiency: Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and procurement software.

Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.

Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and build relationships with suppliers.

Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of regulatory requirements is a plus.
