Overview:

The Quality Inspector- (CMM) is responsible for Programming CMM dimensional inspections on CNC machined parts and
completes the associated quality reports as required.


Essential Job Duties:

  • Completes 100% inspection on first run & in-process parts to customer drawings.
  • Performs close tolerance dimensional checks using customer supplied prints and GD&T.
  • Programs Manual DCC CMM’s- Independently sets-up, programs, and operates CMM for complex parts and programs for repeated inspection of parts as required. Familiarity with CMM Manager software is a plus
  • Exercises independent judgment to determine methods for inspection technique and maintains part inspection programs to assure they are to current print requirements.
  • Uses CMM and/or hand devices such as verniers, calipers, micrometers, gauge pins, bore gauges, fixtures, etc. to as appropriate of castings, machined metal, and plastic parts.
  • Complete quality documentation, supporting inspection, certification reviews, and nonconformance reporting.
  • Maintain inspection equipment according to calibration standards.
  • Supports quality department with First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR), PPAPs, process audits, documents actions by completing production/quality logs.

Background Profile:

  • A.S. in Mechanical Technology or equivalent preferred, with an educational background in CMM programming. Candidates with HS diploma and extensive CMM / inspection experience will be considered and are encouraged to apply.
  • At least one (1) plus year(s) experience programming a CMM with knowledge of GD&T Standards.
  • Visual inspection techniques, basic shop math, geometry, and trigonometry; preferably in a machining environment or equivalent combination of education and manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to utilize and maintain a variety of measuring equipment with an understanding of inspection calibration standards.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, military, and industrial specifications / standards; a working knowledge of
