SUMMARY

The Accounting Clerk will be responsible for providing accounting and clerical assistance to the accounting department to ensure that the company’s daily accounting functions are accurately and effectively recorded.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

The accounting clerk will keep financial records updated, prepare reports and reconcile accounts, process business transactions, and post to the general ledger, including transactions in accounts payables and cash applications.

 

Requirements

 

SKILLS/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • MS Office and Excel proficiency
  • Self-Motivated and Team-Oriented
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Accurately prepare and maintain accounting documents and records
  • Prepare general ledger postings and statements
  • Reconcile accounts in a timely fashion
  • Daily data entry in the business system
  • Research and restore accounting discrepancies
  • Perform all functions in accordance with established standards, procedures, and applicable laws
  • Process credit card payments and provide receipts to the customer
  • Post payments to customer accounts
  • Set-up and maintain customer accounts to include D&B reporting, and customer reference checking
  • Excellent typing and 10-key skills
  • Ability to remain organized in a fast-paced, multitasking environment
  • Assist Receptionist in covering the phone and front desk as required

 

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 2 to 3 years’ accounting experience (required)
  • Experience with accounts payable and/or accounts receivables, including cash applications
  • Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and financial reports
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Aptitude for numbers
  • Display initiative in organization

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

High School Diploma

 

WORK CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; and reach with hands and arms. Employee must have normal manual dexterity and be able to effectively manipulate keyboard and phone. Light lifting may be required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
