Position open at our Royal Palms residential program providing substance abuse treatment focusing on the LGBTQ+ community.

Summary

This position requires training to provide EMDR therapy sessions to program participants. During these sessions, program participants are guided through a structured process that involves recalling distressing memories while simultaneously stimulating bilateral brain activity, typically through eye movements. This process helps participants process and reduce the emotional distress associated with traumatic experiences.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Role model appropriate healthy and ethical behaviors in all interactions, including HIPAA and Confidentiality standards.
  2. Conduct assessments and evaluations to determine the participant’s mental health needs, trauma history, emotional well-being, and whether EMDR therapy is an appropriate treatment option.
  3. Conduct individual therapy sessions with participants utilizing EMDR, in addition to other evidence-based practices to address trauma and substance use disorders (SUD) in alignment with treatment goals.
  4. Provide emotional support to participants throughout treatment to create a safe and empathetic environment.
  5. Utilize de-escalation techniques and assess for suicide risk in participants who are experiencing crisis

Requirements

  1. LCSW, LMFT, LPCC or license eligible such as ACSW, AMFT, or APCC.
  2. CA Board of Behavioral Sciences registration or licensure.
  3. Trained in EMDR or willingness to train in EMDR within first 60 days of employment.
  4. At minimum, Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Marriage and Family Therapy.
  5. Experience working with diverse populations, including LGBTQ+ individuals.
  6. Knowledge of 12-Step programs and/or philosophy.
  7. Current CPR and First Aid Certifications.
