Job Title: Dispatcher
Position Type: Full-Time
Location: Portland, Oregon

Position Summary:

We are seeking a professional and dependable dispatcher to join our team and serve as the primary point of contact for both emergency and non-emergency calls. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining call logs, collecting essential information, monitoring routes, transferring messages, and guiding tow truck drivers. Elite Towing and Recovery stands as one of the largest and most diverse towing companies in Oregon. Success in this position requires the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate will be an outstanding communicator and showcase excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.

This position covers the day shift, offering two schedule options:

  • Wednesday - Saturday (3 12-hour days and 1 half day)
  • Sunday - Wednesday (3 12-hour shifts and 1 half day)

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience: A few months to one year of related experience
  • Solid knowledge of the Portland Metro area
  • General vehicle knowledge, including distinctions between front-wheel, rear-wheel, 4-wheel, and all-wheel drive
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities
  • Ability to remain composed and professional when dealing with stressed or upset customers
  • Detail-oriented, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and capable of effective multitasking
  • Knowledge of Towbook software is a plus

Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent customer service with each inbound and outbound call
  • Respond to issues and coordinate with appropriate departments or field units
  • Operate and manage a multi-line telephone console system
  • Direct tow truck drivers to appropriate locations based on schedules, customer requests, or immediate needs, and supervise routes when necessary
  • Review calls prior to dispatching to confirm all information is accurate
  • Prioritize and organize calls according to urgency
  • Provide customers with pricing information and address any queries they may have
  • Document records related to work requests, customer requests, completed work requests, charges, expenses, inventory, and other information in Towbook
  • Other duties as assigned
