Plant Maintenance Technician will support the efficient operation of a production plant that employs approximately 50 non-union associates. This is a second shift position working occasional weekends.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Troubleshoot and repair: Automated equipment (diagnose and repair failed switches, sensors, wiring; adjust electrical and pneumatic actuators); Electrical circuits for motor control, instrumentation, power distribution up to 480V; and repair/replace hydraulic pumps, cylinders, valves, and motors.
  • Repair damaged or worn piping, including valves, pumps, connectors, and rebuilding valves, pumps and similar by replacing bearings and seals.
  • Repair and modify equipment and support structures by bench fabrication of steel parts and structures involving cutting, bending, drilling, and welding.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on bearings, chain drives, etc.
  • Inform production management of required downtime for repairs to facilitate appropriate scheduling and perform all work in accordance with Lock-Out/Tag-Out requirements and established health and safety procedures.
  • Identify sources of replacement components and provide ordering information to management. Document work performed, parts used, and time spent on projects.

 

KEYS TO THIS OPPORTUNITY:

  • Demonstrated familiarity with electronic industrial systems and industrial automation including basics of operation of proximity switches, mechanical switches, encoders, solenoid valves.
  • Experienced with industrial equipment maintenance and repair (electric motors, pumps, air cylinders, mounted bearings, industrial switches, and sensors). Proven understanding of belts, belt drives, chain drives, gear boxes, and conveyors.
  • Ability to read and interpret written descriptions and/or engineering blueprints and to follow written directions and plans to carry out tasks.
  • Experience with mechanical maintenance and proficient with standard practices for electrical wiring and repair.
  • Capable of identifying and troubleshooting malfunctioning process equipment and quickly restoring functionality to minimize production impact. Communicate critical issues to management in a timely manner.
  • Familiarity with common industrial maintenance tools and able to safely operate a forklift.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to work independently or as a team.
