Job Title: Chemist
Location: Madison WI 53704
Duration: 2+ Months, definite potential to be extended or converted to FTE based on performance
2nd shift Monday through Friday 2 PM – 10 PM (Some flexibility to start at 3 or 4 PM if desired)
Training on 1st shift for the first few weeks

Qualifications:

Entry level science talent – either recent grad, or some lab experience in another environment
Additional details: Local talent only, Actalent has also been searching talent for this role – we need to ensure talent were not already considered through another supplier
 
Job Description:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Demonstrates and promotes the company vision
Regular attendance and punctuality
Applies GMP/GLP in all areas of responsibility, as appropriate
Learns to conduct routine analyses in compliance with applicable methods, protocols, SOPs, and regulatory agency guidelines.
Learns how to document work and maintain study documentation and laboratory records.
Learns how to use laboratory equipment and software appropriate for assigned tasks.
Attends and participates in project meetings.
Learns to perform peer review of data.
Learns to plan assigned workload on a daily basis and effectively schedule multiple assignments.
Contributes to a cohesive team environment.  Plans individual workload in coordination with team members.
Maintains a clean and safe laboratory work environment.
Conducts all activities in a safe and efficient manner
Performs other duties as assigned
Interacts with operational personnel, scientific personnel, and department management.
Expected to understand the process for handling hazardous wastes and receive on-the-job training for handling specific waste types in their job area.
Will be exposed to potential food allergens (ex. Milk, tree nuts, peanuts, fish, shellfish, etc.).
Overtime and weekend work as required.
Work requires some standing and sitting for long periods of time, including working within a laboratory hood and standing at a bench top.
Work requires use of PPE (personal protective equipment).
Will be exposed to potential food allergens.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field (Laboratory experience may be substituted for degree) OR Associate’s Degree in Biotechnology from Madison College (Madison, WI) preferred
Willing to consider non-degreed talent as well with relevant science background and/or experience
Ability to learn new tasks
Ability to think critically and solve problems quickly and efficiently'
