Safety Compliance Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for supporting execution, compliance, and enhancement of internal and external safety programs. This role has a dual reporting relationship, primary to the operations/plant manager and matrix to corporate safety manager.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in educating and guiding all employees in safe work practices.
- Monitoring the day-to-day safety policies and procedures on the plant floor
- Work daily with associates, leads and supervisors to promote safe work practices and safety awareness culture.
- Provides guidance and assists in hazard identification, mitigation, documentation, and resolution.
- Provides input for safety and health considerations and assists in establishing standard operating procedures and work instructions.
- Assists the Safety Manager with incident/accident investigations, subsequent documentation, problem solving and implementation of countermeasure(s).
- Conducts and/or participates in Safety audits to review practices and records to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Leads by example by exemplifying safety and professionalism on the job site.
- Reviews injury/illness and non-injury incident investigation reports and follows up as necessary.
- Lead or assist with safety training for employees on the company LMS program.
- Training employees for ITC’s lockout tagout machine specific program and new hire Safety orientation.
- Complete daily routine inspections on plant floor.
- Takes the lead in resolving actions that are under their sphere of influence.
- Clearly communicates safety items/requirements when discovered or informed of them.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong computer skills. Knowledge of MS Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.
- Ability to prioritize and follow through on multiple tasks/projects.
- Must be self-motivated, positive, and energetic.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal direct supervision.
- Must be able to work overtime as needed.
- Regular and predictable attendance, safe performance of tasks, and adherence to all safety policies and procedures are essential functions of the job.
