Position Summary

The Controls Technician designs, and develops, all aspects of electrical control systems, equipment, and machinery. Is responsible for the installation and technical support of PLC/HMI based hardware and software, VFD’s, and Ethernet Networking. Will work with plant personnel to keep machinery running and perform other tasks as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following

· Support manufacturing facility’s Controls, Electrical needs, and Networking

- Manufacturing floor troubleshooting on control systems

- Program PLC’s (Programmable logic controllers) including Allen Bradley, OMRON, GE Fanuc, Mitsubishi, and others as needed.

- Match and replace VFD’s and be able to understand and setup parameters.

- Champion and implement the company’s standard engineering and controls practices.

- Write, review, and give input to engineering specifications for new and existing equipment when needed.

· Program, service, repair, and maintain instrumentation, electrical, and process controls.

· Minimum of 5 years of experience with a minimum of 4 years of experience in an Automation role

· Read and interpret electrical schematics and ladder logic diagrams.

· Demonstrated experience in PLC logic programming and corresponding hardware

- Able to program PLC’s in RSLogix 500 & 5000, RS Studio 5000

- Camera Inspection systems (Cognex and/or Keyence)

- Able to program HMI’s in FT View Studio, C-more, Unitronics, and Horner

- Understanding general construction of an electrical and controls cabinet and how to handle the different voltages within the cabinet

- Understanding of how-to setup and back up a VFD drive with its parameter settings and match up new with obsoleted VFD’s

- Experience in troubleshooting various drive controllers (Allen Bradley, AC Tech, Mitsubishi)

· Experience and understanding of oven instructions and instrumentation.

· Able to work on all kind of different MCC specially Allen Bradely

· Knowledge of electrical circuitry and computer programming.

· Familiarity with communication protocols.

· Experience in CISCO Ethernet switches and understand switch configurations, and detect incorrect settings

- (Desired) CompTIA Certification in A+ for entry-level for PC computer service professionals for installing, maintaining, customizing, and setup of operating systems for personal computers, PLC, HMI, and VFD

· Understanding of Connection Technology and Best Practices

- (Desired) CompTIA Certification in Network+ for networking professionals, and coversmanaging, maintaining, troubleshooting, operating, and configuring basic network infrastructure

- Understanding of Managed Switch’s vs a HUB (Allen Bradley Stratix, 9300-ENA)

- Experience in trouble shooting various drive controllers (Allen Bradley, AC Tech, Mitsubishi

· Experience working in a team environment.

· Willingness to work long hours to complete jobs on schedule and meet standards of quality.

· Knowledge of safe working practices around moving and electrical equipment.

Education and/or Experience

· Minimum high school diploma or GED

· 5 years with 4 years of experience in the field in a related area

Computer Skills

· Excellent Microsoft applications and computer skills in a network environment

Supervisory Responsibilities

· None

Hours

· Monday to Friday; overtime and weekends as needed. Must be able to work a flexible schedule for the needs of the business.

Shift 1: Monday to Friday, 10 am to 6:30 pm

Physical Demands and Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to grasp, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to walk, stand, stoop, kneel and crouch. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $40.00 - $43.00 per hour
