CAD Drafter & Engineering Technician

Join our winning team, High Velocity-Category 5, the industry leader in hurricane protection and wind abatement systems.  In this role you will be responsible for creating and revising all CAD drawings to support the design, installation, & approvals for our hurricane protection solutions including accordion shutters, rolling shutters, roller screens and awnings.  Must be thoroughly familiar with architectural drawings of high-rise condominium construction as well as single family homes.
 

Responsibilities:

  • Produce & revise AutoCAD drawings.
  • Maintain architectural & AutoCAD drawing library for projects.
  • Use ASME/ ANSI standards CAD design and drafting techniques and skills.
  • Produce CAD drawings based on observations, measurements, and architectural drawings of high-rise residential structures.
  • Support light mechanical engineering projects creating drawings, templates, product drawings etc.
  • Be handy, work basic shop equipment to include drill press & saw machinery etc.
  • Performs other duties as required to help support the design and installation of our hurricane protection solutions. 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent plus 3 years related work experience in CAD design and drafting, or;
  • Associate degree in CAD or drafting studies in lieu of experience.
  • Minimum experience of 3 years with AutoCAD or similar 2D design software.
  • Thorough understanding of architectural drawings for high rise structures.
  • Have a basic understanding of mechanical engineering product design and residential high-rise construction. 
  • Has a basic mechanical and conceptual aptitude.

·       Experience with Microsoft Office suite including spreadsheets.

·       Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Have a keen eye for detail and a passion for ensuring that all work is completed to the highest standards.

·       Excellent time management and planning skills.

 

 

Compensation Base: $30-40 hourly based on experience with a review at 180 days.  This job requires on-site work (NO REMOTE). Flexible hours (3-5 days a week is an option).
