MAJOR FUNCTION

Responsible clerical work performed in accordance with established laws and office procedures. An employee in this job assists in the training and work of large numbers of volunteers. Reports directly to the Election Worker Coordinator.

ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES

Assists with recruiting Election Workers including conducting orientations and evaluating abilities of potential Election Workers for polling places

Responsible for assigning Election Workers to specific Election Day tasks in their designated county precincts

Assists in maintaining Election Worker database, files, and payroll records and forms required by the payroll department

Assists in maintaining current contact information for Election Workers for notification of letters, questionnaires, surveys, emails, and text notifications

Assists in maintaining Election Worker procedures

Assists with polling place and Early Voting supplies for election day, Early Voting periods, and training classes as needed

Assists in preparation of Election Worker manuals and training materials

Assists in establishing a training calendar

Assists with Early Voting aspects designated by the Election Worker Coordinator as needed

Assists in the preparation of the newsletter Election Worker News and its distribution

Other responsibilities may include …
• Assisting with voter registration area
• Answering inquiries from the public and furnish information pertaining to voter registration, elections, and voting
• Assisting with telephone and front counter reception
• Assisting with vote-by-mail processes
• Assisting with candidate/initiative petitions
• Assisting with voter education/outreach events
• Assisting with Early Voting

Performs related work and other duties as required


KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
• Knowledge of Business English, spelling, and arithmetic
• Knowledge of office practices and procedures
• Knowledge of election laws and procedures
• Knowledge of the administrative and procedural regulations applicable to the Office of the Supervisor of Elections
• Ability to meet and deal effectively with other employees and the general public
• Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions
• Ability to make decisions in accordance with laws and regulations and apply those directly to work problems
• Ability to operate standard computer and other office equipment
• Working knowledge of laptops/personal computers and software applications including word processing and spreadsheets

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma

Four years of experience in work which includes public contact or public relations

A comparable amount of training or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS
Must have a current Florida Driver License

Must be a registered voter in the state of Florida

Able and available to work extended hours and weekend hours as needed, with little or no advance notice
