I am seeking a dedicated and hardworking individual to join my team as a Groundhand. In this role, you will be responsible for installing fiber optic cables, ensuring the work site's safety, and performing routine maintenance tasks. **This position requires regular travel to various job sites (transportation provided by the company)**. This job may require 4-5 day stays near job sites paid by the company. Always home on weekends to be with family, etc. The company also provides paid lunch. (Employee must be able to pay for own dinner and have reliable transportation to get to the main location (Denver, PA) at the start of each work week. From the main location, the employee will travel in a company vehicle to the work site)
PAY $20-30/hr depending on experience.
Responsibilities:
1. Assist in Fiber Optic Installations: Work under the direction of the Crew Leader (Company owner) to install fiber optic cables. This includes laying conduit and pulling cable.
2. Ensure Safety: Maintain a safe work environment by following all safety procedures and protocols.
3. Routine Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning and inspecting equipment.
4. Site Preparation: Prepare work sites for installation, which may include removing obstacles, marking utility lines, and setting up traffic control devices.
5. Teamwork: Work effectively as part of a team to complete installation projects in a timely and efficient manner.
6. Travel: Regular travel to various job sites is required.
Qualifications:
1. Experience: Previous experience in construction or telecommunications is preferred but not required.
2. Physical Stamina: Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting heavy objects and working in various weather conditions.
3. Attention to Detail: Ability to follow instructions and pay attention to details.
4. Communication Skills: Good verbal communication skills are essential for coordinating with team members and understanding instructions.
5. License: A valid driver's license is required.
6. Steel-toed boots (not provided)
Work Environment:
This position requires outdoor work in various weather conditions and physical activities such as lifting and climbing. Safety equipment will be provided.
