Job Title: Heavy Civil Project Engineer/Assistant Project Manager

Location: Clinton, CT

Job Description: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Heavy Civil Project Engineer/Assistant Project Manager to join our team in Clinton, CT. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow their career in the civil engineering and construction industry. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the execution of highway and bridge projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of heavy civil projects, specifically highways and bridges.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager to develop project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
  • Monitor project progress and performance, identifying and addressing any issues or risks.
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation, including reports, submittals, and RFIs.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor construction activities and ensure compliance with project specifications and safety standards.
  • Assist in the preparation and negotiation of change orders and contract modifications.
  • Support the development and implementation of quality control and quality assurance procedures.
  • Participate in project meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of project management processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in heavy civil construction, with a focus on highways and bridges.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and equipment.
  • Proficient in project management software and tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, AutoCAD).
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to changing project requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
