Job DescriptionJob DescriptionJOB SUMMARY Under the supervision of the Clinical Director/Clinical Supervisor, the Primary Counselor provides comprehensive treatment services including client assessment, individual and group counseling, psychoeducation classes, treatment planning, continuum of care referrals, and crisis intervention, etc., to clients struggling with substance use disorder. The Primary Counselor also participates in peer review, quality assurance activities and other relevant duties as assigned. The Primary Counselor performs all procedures accurately, completely and efficiently for clients in accordance with applicable program policies and procedures.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Embodies Eva’s Village’s core values, voice and tone in order to provide an exceptional and effective experience for our clients, funders, employees and volunteers.
  • Performs biopsychosocial assessments and explores diagnoses with course of treatment.
  • Develops treatment plans, which include measurable goals and objectives.
  • Facilitates individual counseling, psycho-education classes, and group therapy as assigned.
  • Participates in case conference with multidisciplinary treatment team to determine the best course of treatment for clients and to address all of the client’s needs.
  • Performs LOCI extension requests.
  • Works with clients on life skills development.
  • Provides discharge planning and community linkages.
  • Maintains up-to-date client documentation.
  • Participates in program data collection and program tracking mechanisms.
  • Collaborates with Parole, Probation, and Drug Court, etc. as indicated.
  • Makes appropriate referrals to ensure client continuum of care.
  • Responsible for assisting clients with legal issues, scheduling fine payments, rescinding warrants and rescheduling courts dates as indicated.
  • Perform crisis intervention as indicated.
  • Assists with peer review process and quality assurance activities.
  • Performs other relevant duties as assigned by Supervisor.



Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred Counselors will be certified alcohol and drug counselors (CADC), licensed alcohol and drug counselors (LCADC), or other licensed health professionals (LAC/LSW, LPC/LCSW.) EXPERIENCE: Knowledge of NJSAMS helpful. Ability to speak, read and write English. Must be able to work independently and complete assignments with minimal supervision. Good interpersonal skills required. Must maintain a professional demeanor and perform duties effectively in stressful/emergency situations. Must be able to maintain objectivity and deal diplomatically with clients and family members.
