Job DescriptionJob Description

The Project Superintendent’s responsibility includes the overall day-to-day supervision of field related construction activities for the DMC construction projects assigned to you. Responsibilities include: directing all trade personnel and subcontractors; scheduling and sequencing the day to day activities of work with your trade Foreman; interfacing with client’s superintendent to insure their satisfaction; overseeing individual projects to assure compliance with the scope and quality as established by the contract documents; enforcement of site  cleanliness, safety, health, and DMC substance abuse programs; proactively anticipating and solving problems that could delay construction; promoting and instilling DMC’s values into the workforce; physically inspecting projects to monitor progress and compliance with project standards. 

Functions:

  • Take ownership of projects assigned to you and your trade foreman
  • Coordinate DMC trade labor between plumbers, pipe fitters and service technicians
  • Ensuring that all projects are performed in accordance with contractual and DMC quality standards;
  • Meeting with Project Manager on a regular basis to discuss the status of projects, concerns and conflicts, upcoming schedule requirements for DMC, DMC subcontractors and equipment needs
  • Communicate short-interval look-ahead project schedules with foreman that make sure that upcoming events are on track and are being proactively attended to;
  • Creating and maintaining a culture that values safety, health and cleanliness and a team environment
  • Attending pre-construction, progress and other project and staff meetings. 
  • Participating in training and other forms of continuous improvement initiatives for foreman and field tradesmen
  • Recruit and maintain quality individuals that adhere to the DMC standards for employment
  • Understands means and methods of construction associated with the renovation of commercial and institutional buildings typical throughout Washington, DC Metropolitan area.
  • Develop a sequence of work with the foreman to complete a successful project; 
  • Attend cost to complete meeting and provide labor cost to complete projections
  • Collect weekly time cards, verify applicable cost codes, hours worked and provide your signature before turning into Accounting for processing
  • Attend monthly project review meetings and provide input for labor coordination
  • Provide Input and approval of labor budget, tool and G&A budget
