Job Description

Position: Electrical Engineer | Location: Columbus, IN

Contact: 6 months with possible extension/direct hire
Schedule: M-F (8 am – 5 pm)
Compensation: $44-46/hour with optional benefits & PTO
Onboarding Requirements: Background check, drug screen, & employment verification

Essential Qualifications:

  • Education: Minimum bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering
  • Experience: 4+ years of hands-on experience
  • Technical Skills: Strong technical knowledge of automation and control systems
  • Problem-Solving: Well-developed problem-solving skills
  • Safety Expertise: Extensive experience leading and participating in machinery safety and conducting machine safety assessments (IMPORTANT MUST HAVE)
  • Functional Safety: Solid understanding of the functional safety of machinery, including the selection, installation, and configuration of protective devices and related control systems used to protect people from injuries
  • Risk Awareness: Understanding of hazards and risks associated with manufacturing equipment
  • Safety Standards: Advanced knowledge and experience in evaluating safety-related control systems, including:
    • ISO 13849-1
    • ISO 13849-2
    • IEC 62061
    • ISO 12100
  • Verification & Validation: Capability in performing safety system verification and validation
  • Energy Control: Basic understanding of the control of hazardous energy (Lock out – tag out)
  • Project Management: Basic project management skills
  • Travel: Ability to travel domestically

Preferred:

  • Any holdings of machinery safety certifications are a PLUS

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop electrical systems and components for manufacturing processes
  • Utilize programmable logic controllers and Python for system automation and control
  • Create detailed schematics and conduct system design using C++ and MATLAB
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement solutions
  • Troubleshoot and debug electrical systems to ensure optimal performance
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in electrical engineering technology
