Job Summary:

This position supports technical service delivery and assurance for residential, commercial and internal customers, including those with complex network requirements. The role requires occasional on-site work with customers, assisting the sales and installation teams by helping clients understand their technical needs while aiding in the implementation of business systems and networks.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Office network and systems administration including desktop hardware & software support, A/V software, printers, office LAN and WIFI, IP phones and headsets
  • Assist office and field staff with customer support escalations as needed
  • Performs commercial sales engineering support
  • Independently manage comprehensive network initiatives such as: configuration and backup management, managed WIFI deployments, small business networks, , and hybrid fiber coax (HFC) installation, maintenance and reporting
  • Work on satellite dishes including alignment, LNB installation & adjustment, measurements & testing, receiver configuration and maintenance
  • Network documentation
  • Data center cable installation and maintenance
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of desktop and mobile OSs: Windows, MacOS, iOS, Android
  • Knowledge of home/commercial routers, modems, and switches
  • Knowledge of IoT devices: Streaming settops, DVR security systems, smart home devices
  • Knowledge of WiFi configuration and troubleshooting including channel conflicts, interference, mesh networks, and standards (802.11 B/A/G/N/AC/AX/etc…)
  • Ability to translate technical problems for customers into easily understandable summaries and solutions
  • Understanding of IP network design and protocols such as DHCP, DNS, HTTP, SNMP, IMAP, POP
  • Knowledge of server OSs: Linux, Windows Server, vSphere
  • Knowledge of network equipment and OSs: Cisco IOS, Junos, ExtremeXOS
  • Knowledge of RF, DOCSIS, cable modems, FTTH, ONTs/ONUs is a plus
  • Knowledge of digital video formats and protocols is a plus (MPEG-2, MPEG-4, HVEC, MPEG-TS)
  • Knowledge of digital phone systems, IP phones, and the SIP protocol is a plus
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and reprioritize as necessary

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or comparable experience) in a technical field
  • 3-5 years of experience in a network engineering role.
  • Physical Requirements/Essential Duties:
  • Must be able to work outdoors, and in all weather conditions
  • Must be able to walk, bend, and lift up to 40 pounds
  • Hand/finger dexterity
  • Flexible schedule including participation in an on-call rotation
  • Clean driving record required, with the ability to travel locally and occasionally overnight
  • Appropriate visual acuity to inspect drawings and blueprints
