The Vocational Rehabilitation Director oversees the tribal vocational rehabilitation program and staff to ensure eligible tribal citizens are able to access comprehensive vocational rehabilitation services that are culturally competent throughout the tribe’s six parish service area.  The position is responsible for all professional decision making, policy development to ensure program operations are conducted within tribal and federal law, policies and procedures.

 

Roles and Responsibilities of this Position

·      Supervises all program activities and vocational rehabilitation staff on a daily basis

·      Leads tracking and monitoring of program activities

·      Completes annual and other required reports for the Department of Education and Tribal Council as requested

·      Develops and maintains program policies and procedures that are consistent with the mission and vision of the program and engages tribal citizens with disabilities in that development

·      Conducts monthly case management to ensure consumer progress and accountability of staff while ensuring appropriate adherence to policies and procedures

·      Serves as the contracting authority for all services and other contracts, negotiations and activities under this grant award

·      Prepares grant applications as required

·      Ensures confidentiality of files and all decisions regarding eligibility and service provision are made by designated tribal staff and in accordance with federal law

·      Captures input and engages tribal citizens to determine the effectiveness of vocational rehabilitation services

·      Develop and monitor the annual budget, accounts receivable, and payable, and overall fiscal management.  Manage and oversee daily finances; provide monthly financial statements to the UHN Finance Committee

·      Ensure grant management is complying and current

·      Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor

 

Required Qualifications

• REQUIRED:  A Bachelors’ Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling Social Work, Family and Consumer Sciences, or a related field
• REQUIRED:  Prior experience working in supervising direct client service provision
• PREFERRED:  Prior experience in vocational rehabilitation or a closely aligned field
• PREFERRED:  Prior management experience
• Must have excellent verbal, written and communication skills
• Must be able to develop and maintain effective working relationships with community members and partner organizations
• Proficiency in team coordination software
• Knowledge of UHN culture, programs, and services
• Ability to meet deadlines while multitasking in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency in a variety of computer applications including MS Office and MS Excel and team coordination software
• Acceptable Criminal Records check and Child Abuse Registry check

 

Position is full-time based in Houma, Louisiana.  Position requires travel.
