The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for eliminating waste in the manufacturing process and applying innovative systems and solutions to improve company workflows. Works with the actual machinery and physical setup of a factory to implement new technology and facilitate each step of production. Their role is to set criteria for quality and speed, then consistently measure manufacturing behaviors and evaluate their success. Also responsible for identifying delays in production and sources of waste, then uses technology and engineering principles to define the system. They adjust production lines and integrate new technology to improve the supply and production chain. Manufacturing Engineers can train factory staff on how to properly incorporate new technology and methods into current production standards. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Evaluate quality control processes and make recommendations for improvements in quality control. 
  • Analyze production processes, schedules, methods, and other data and then provide management with reports containing the and statistics to enable management to better understand future requirements needed for the manufacturing process. 
  • Ensure that the company's manufacturing processes follow all government laws and regulations. 
  • Review and calculate labor, material, and other production costs along with reviewing schedules and future production requirements to assist management in decision making. 
  • Analyze and plan workflow, equipment placement, and space requirements to improve manufacturing efficiency. 
  • Coordinate equipment maintenance and repair services and make sure that manufacturer's procedures and instructions are followed in order to keep production equipment operational. 
  • Create drawings to plan out the best arrangement of tools and machinery. 
  • Oversee the installation of new machines and program them to perform the correct tasks at the right time in the prodcution process. 
  • Provide on-side assistance to people working the production lines, adjusting equipment issues and teaching them to limit user error. 
  • Identify which tasks require automation and which are best performed by individuals. 
  • Communicate with others and work as part of a team to gather feedback about their manufacturing challenges, then integrate their feedback into future designs.

  • Ability to design tools, adjust blueprints and record data about production levels. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and outlook)
  • Proficient in Auto CAD and SolidWorks,
  • Experience with ERP systems required. 
  • Project Management training and experience as Project Manager or in a role with responsibility of managing projects preferred. 
  • Able to support multiple efforts and track process against timelines. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Exceptional organization and time management skills. 
  • Ability to define problems, research, and check facts, and draw valid conclusions. 
  • Knowledge of 5 S. Lean Manufacturing Process. 

Education and Training:

Bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering, systems engineering, industrial engineering or mechanical engineering. Certificate in Manufacturing Engineering desired. 

Experience: 

10+ years' experience working as a  Manufacturing Engineer, 5 S Lean Manufacturing, Green Belt.
