Position Summary

The Fabrication Estimator responsible for providing professional level estimating support in a

fast pace environment.  This position will provide accurate, organized and responsive cost

estimates related to time requirements, materials and labor for our external customers for individual projects. The Heat Treat Specialist is responsible for the maintenance, care and accurate running of the stress relief furnaces to run according to customer specifications.

Role and Responsibility

·         Researching the cost of items such as materials, transport, labor and equipment

·         Establishing and maintaining relationships with contractors and vendors

·         Getting quotes from suppliers and contractors within a specified time frame

·         Assessing the risk levels associated with a project

·         Preparing and submitting quotations and details of costs for work to be done

·         Assisting with bids for new contracts and supporting the activities of sales team

·         Monitoring the costs at the different stages of a project to ensure it stays within the estimated costs

·         Formulate an estimate from proposals and/or blueprint drawings which would includes breaking down fabrications in a bill of material and calculating man hours to fabricate, roll, form and machine parts.

Abilities/Qualifications

·         Must have a thorough understanding of steel fabricating and machining processes

·         5 – 7 years of related experience as an Estimator with a focus on fabrication and machining

·         Ability to communicate effectively with vendors to secure pricing of purchased items and any subcontract requirements

·         Ability to work with other estimators on multiple projects at the same time

·         Organized and detail oriented

·         The ability to work under pressure to meet set goals, budgets and deadlines

·         Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet or estimating software

·         The ability to read blueprints and drawings and customer specifications and develop cost estimates 

·         The ability to manage time well and multitask

·         Must be willing to work overtime as needed
