Veterinary Assistant or Technician – Full or Part-time opportunity

Noblesville Square Animal Clinic is an AAHA accredited veterinary hospital located in Noblesville, IN. We are seeking people to join our team of dedicated care givers. Our practice is focused on providing wellness care, vaccinations, internal medicine, dentistry, and surgery for dogs and cats. While previous experience at a veterinary hospital or equivalent education is preferred, we are willing to train the right person. As a Veterinary Assistant or Technician, you will assist the doctor and other staff by providing care and services in a compassionate manner to our patients and their owners. You will be responsible for answering phone calls, assisting and educating clients, assisting with examinations and diagnostic procedures, feeding and caring for animals, and maintaining medical records.

The work schedule for our full-time roles are 36-40 hours per week while the part-time roles are 20-25 hours per week. Some weekend hours are required on a rotational basis.

Responsibilities:

  • Interact with pet owners by answering phones, scheduling appointments, taking a medical history; reviewing health records; completing laboratory tests and studies; and diagnostic imaging.
  • Assist the doctor during examinations by preparing the required supplies and instruments; securing and bringing animals to examination room; restraining animals; providing assistance as directed; and explaining animal's discharge instructions and medications to the owners.
  • Provide care for animals by taking vital signs; collecting specimen samples; and administering medications and drugs as directed.
  • Assist in surgery or procedures as needed by preparing the required supplies and instruments; restraining animals; operating and monitoring anesthetic machines; attaching ECG monitors; preparing the surgical site; placing IV catheters; cleaning-up post-surgical sites; maintaining sterile conditions; and obtaining and verifying medications.
  • Complete daily care duties for animals of feeding and watering; walking boarding and hospitalized dogs; cleaning animals' cages; changing cages; and observing in hospital patients for clinical signs of disease.
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy environment by sanitizing and disinfecting cages; storing sterile supplies; verifying shelf life on medications and supplies; following hospital standards and procedures; and complying with legal regulations.
  • Complete required documentation of animal health records to include the animal’s condition, reactions, and changes, and the general updating of the medical database.

 

Qualifications:

  • Willingness to consistently learn new information
  • Prior experience at a veterinary hospital or equivalent education is preferred; however training is available
  • Experience in an office setting (greeting clients, answering the telephone, computer skills, etc.)
  • Demonstrate an ability to learn new skills and increase knowledge by participating in continuing education opportunities.
