Jr. Network Administrator Responsibilities:
A Junior Network Administrator has many duties and responsibilities, which may change based on the needs of Anaptyx. The typical duties and responsibilities of a Junior Network Administrator include:
● Maintaining the bulk Wi-Fi networks and systems, including software, VPNs, routers, switches, power backup systems, and other physical hardware
● Installing and configuring wi-fi network equipment to update or fix hardware or software issues
● Updating virus and/or DNS filtering systems to keep the wi-fi networks protected
● Daily monitoring of the wi-fi network systems to maintain and improve network performance
● Effectively and consistently communicating networking issues to other employees and management
● Repairing software and hardware configuration issues on-demand from customer support or internal inspection and monitoring of the wi-fi networks.
Jr. Network Administrator Job Duties:
The Jr. Wireless Network Administrators' duties focus on developing and maintaining system efficiency. Many of the days may involve troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair. The Jr. Administrator must keep wireless networks operating at all times and check that all components of the wi-fi network, hardware, and software function together as designed. Our Field Technicians who experience technological difficulties with on-site repairs often require technical assistance. Even when the wireless networks function perfectly, the Jr. Network Administrator must monitor system performance. Additionally, staying aware of new technological developments and trends will help the Jr. Network Administrator consider ways to improve Anaptyx’s bulk wi-fi networks in the future

“Soft” Job Skills Required of Jr. Network Administrator:
Problem Solving. Jr. Network Administrator must be able to analyze problems logically and repeatably. Even if you don’t know the answer to a problem right away, you must be able to figure out where an issue is and solve it in a reasonable amount of time.
Critical Thinking. It is vital to be able to construct a technological solution to a business problem using the knowledge and experience you have. Critical thinking lets you determine the best solution to ongoing requirements.
Time Management. Multitasking and keeping track of multiple projects simultaneously is something the network admin must be able to maintain. Some project management proficiency is another “soft” skill that will benefit the Jr. Network Administrator.
Communication Skills. You must be able to communicate with co-workers and stakeholders and convince people of the best course of action. The Jr. Network Administrator must also be able to teach best practices to clients using the bulk wi-fi network and systems.
Learning. Information technology is a constantly evolving field. If you are not a lifelong learner who can adapt to change, this is not a position for you. The Jr. Network Administrator must be able to absorb new information, understand and retain that knowledge, and adapt the wi-fi network systems as things change.
Minimum Jr. Network Administrator Qualifications:
● Relevant internship or at least 2 years of work experience is a plus
● Excellent user support and interpersonal skills
● Strong communication skills, ability to collaborate effectively, and attention to detail
● Ability to communicate needs and new ideas with users and management
● An associate degree in telecommunications, networking, computer science, or a related field is required. A combination of relevant work experience and/or education sufficient to perform the job's duties may substitute to meet the total years required on a year-for-year basis.
Physical Requirements: Ability to perform sedentary work; Physical effort should include the necessary dexterity to perform the tasks of the job; incidental lifting without assistance of up to 25 lbs. greater weight requires following company safety guides to include caring below shoulder level and walking with load using trained lifting techniques.
Working Conditions: Work is performed in an open-spaced office environment with minimal privacy. The work schedule is a 40-hour workweek and requires flexibility in hours, weekend and holiday work, after-hour on-call duties, and occasional travel to client sites.
The company and its subsidiaries operate in a 24/7 environment, providing critical services to Alaskans and may need to respond to public health and safety matters or other business emergencies. Due to business needs, employees may be contacted outside regular business hours to respond to the immediate emergency. You will be requested to provide emergency after-hours contact numbers.
Driving Requirements (if applicable): Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and a satisfactory driving record.
