Our trusted client seeks an IT Field Technician to join their team

  • Duration: 6-to-12-month contract plus extensions & possible contract to hire based on performance

  • Travel Requirements: 3 to 10 client visits per week - Approximately 75 to 125 miles per week (mileage reimbursed)

Summary: We are seeking a talented and dynamic IT Field Technician to join our Field Operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for deploying, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting network infrastructure across multiple client sites. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in networking, excellent communication skills, and a willingness to go onsite to customer locations.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain network hardware and software components, including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, run and pull cable.
  • Perform site surveys and assessments to determine network requirements and design solutions that meet client needs.
  • Implement and troubleshoot LAN/WAN connectivity, other network services.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to develop and implement network upgrade plans and projects.
  • Assessing network performance, system availability and reliability.
  • Conduct network maintenance, including updating software and hardware.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to clients during network outages and emergencies.
  • Document network configurations, LAN / WAN diagrams, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for knowledge sharing and future reference.
  • Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in networking.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2-3+ years of experience in network technician or a similar role.
  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking, routing, switching, and subnetting.
  • Hands-on experience with network equipment from leading vendors such as Cisco, Meraki, Juniper, and Palo Alto Networks.
  • Understanding of network protocols and technologies, including VLANs, and VPNs. Interested to learn more about OSPF, BGP etc.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients and internal teams.
  • Capability to work both independently and in a team setting.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Flexibility to travel frequently and work at various client sites within the designated region.
  • Industry certifications such as CompTia Networking, CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are highly desirable.
