Doherty Career Solutions is partnering with a local Brainerd, MN company as they search for a Dispatcher to join the thriving team. The Dispatcher will assist the community by arranging shuttles that assist them with their daily transportation needs. While maintaining communication with drivers, coordinating routes, and responding to real-time travel conditions, Dispatch is also authorizing and maintaining driver and vehicle availability, managing fleet on-time performance, completing related administrative duties, and more. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented individual with great communication and critical thinking skills. This role is M-F 10:00am-6:00pm and can range depending upon experience from $18.00-24.00 an hour to start.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide public transportation dispatching and routing services to seniors, disabled individuals certified under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the general public; dispatch demand/response and deviated service vehicles as appropriate.
  • Create, maintain and monitor computerized daily manifests/schedules for dispatching and routing transit services; modify and update schedules to improve services.
  • Monitor computer and two-way radio for information regarding scheduling issues and field situations; notify Transit Manager of situations requiring attention.
  • Receive, screen, maintain and update Dial-A-Ride applications for mobility-impaired public transportation services.
  • Perform a wide variety of clerical duties including answering a multi-line phone, data entry and typing duties; maintain accurate records, logs and files on transportation services; create monthly reports.
  • Provide a variety of public transportation information to passengers, the general public and other public agencies; provide quality customer service and respond to public inquiries and requests for service in a courteous manner.
  • Respond to the activation of the City’s emergency operation center by assisting in the coordination of transportation for emergency personnel, resources, equipment and supplies as needed.
  • Perform related duties as required.

  • General knowledge and understanding of codes and regulations governing public transportation for seniors and individuals certified under the ADA.
  • General knowledge of geography and landmarks for the City of Brainerd, Crow Wing County, and the city of Pine River.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years of experience in transportation industry is preferred.
