Job DescriptionJob Description

A Welder Fabricator is responsible for designing, cutting, and shaping metal, taking particular care to produce clean, polished welds. A Welder Fabricator will follow blueprints, determine material requirements, and fabricate parts.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions and visualizes the product to determine the materials and equipment required to fabricate parts.
  • Computes dimensions, plans layout, and determines assembly method and sequence of operations.
  • Fabrication involves laying out, cutting, fitting, measuring, and welding metals to create the desired shape or object. It is highly detailed work that requires the Welder Fabricator to be knowledgeable of many techniques and tools.
  • Verifies conformance of fabricated parts to specifications, including dimensions, alignments, and weld strength.
  • A Welder Fabricator must constantly inspect and test welds and equipment. Welds are checked for durability and meet specified standards, and equipment must be examined to determine whether repairs or new equipment are needed.

  • Attention to detail
  • Basic written and communication skills

 

Qualifications:

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent or Journeyman’s papers from the state.

 

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described below must be met to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.

· Dexterity is mandatory as this job requires frequent use of hands and fingers.

· Will be required to talk, hear, and see. Vision requirements for this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, the ability to adjust focus, and the ability to differentiate between colors.

· Occasional lifting and moving of up to 50 lbs.

· Must be able to stand 6-10 hours a day

 

Work Environment:

· This position is in a manufacturing setting.

· Indoor work which may not be temperature controlled.

· Exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise levels.
