Gallery Attendant / Museum Docent - Part Time - Temp to Hire - Novato

Excellent opportunity to join a 50+ year old nonprofit organization while building awareness of Indigenous communities: local museum is seeking a part-time Gallery Attendant to greet visitors and provide general exhibit information to the visiting public.  

By promoting cultural education and preservation, you will help the museum achieve its mission and foster an engaging and welcoming environment in this key, public-facing role. 

This is a wonderful opportunity for someone with a passion for learning and sharing their knowledge of Indigenous cultures.

• Start: ASAP
• Duration: 3+ months with the goal of temp to hire
• Location: ONSITE in Novato
• Schedule:  Wednesday – Sunday, 11:00am - 4:30pm
• Pay: $23/hour
• Background Check: Clear Criminal Background check is required prior to starting

Gallery Attendant / Museum Docent duties include:

• Manage daily sales from the Museum Store; accept donations and membership sign-ups
• Assist in scheduling guided tours; collect visitor feedback
• Opening/closing Museum: maintain presentable public space (dusting exhibit cases, sweeping, etc.)
• Assist Director with Museum’s digital presence, including the website and email, social media content creation
• Administrative tasks for the Director as needed

Gallery Attendant / Museum Docent requirements:

• 1+ year experience in a customer service/public-facing role
• Ability to engage with diverse audiences of all ages
• Previous museum, gallery experience is highly preferred
• Experience working in a nonprofit setting and familiarity with CRM software
