The Site Maintenance and Material Handling Worker supports the Site Logistics Coordinator, and/or any other supervisor assigned as their Team Leader by the Site Manager, with general maintenance activities required to ensure the Health, Safety and
Environmental (HSE) requirements of the site works, perform corrective and pre-ventive activities required during the daily execution of the Works and also support the material handling, storage and preservation of the equipment delivered to the construction sites.
The range of activities will vary depending on the realities of the sites. In general, the workers are organized within a team with each having varying skills that complement and fulfill the different obligations, all under the direct supervision of the person assigned by the Site Manager as their Team Leader.

2 Role Tasks and Responsibilities
2.1 Maintenance Activities

  • Perform general maintenance works and site up-keep works to avoid possible failures and HSE issues.
  • Assist in developing preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
  • Perform installations, assembling, fittings, repairs, and replacements as needed, based on their different skills and certifications.
  • Handle emergency maintenances and repair works.
  • Site Housekeeping: maintain work areas clean, safe, and organized.
  • Operate maintenance equipment safely to avoid accidents.
  • Perform maintenance tasks based on pictures, blueprints, written description, and oral instructions from their team leader, following all applicable procedures, permits, risk assessments and HSE guidelines.
  • Maintain complete records of daily maintenance and preservation activities.
  • Maintain the maintenance tools and equipment in clean and safe working conditions.
  • Stock adequate maintenance materials and equipment to avoid shortages and excesses.
  • Ensure all necessary traffic signals are in place, the traffic routes are clean and safe for transit, and per-form, whenever required, traffic marshal/controller duties. Interface with any external vendors approved by the site management to ensure related works for the site roads.
  • Erect all necessary signage and signposts on site as defined by the Site Manager through their Team Leader and ensure the maintenance of all these signage.
  • Perform minor civil works in relation to the maintenance of the construction site.
  • Erect temporary Barriers and fencing as may be required to segregate areas, cordon works, or ensure the safety for personnel.
  • Perform site winterization/gritting activities for roads, pedestrian ways and related, and/or coordinate with external vendors wherever required.
  • Compliantly eliminate excess waters from roads, pedestrian ways, and others. Apply methods to avoid mudding of pedestrian ways and roads, in coordination with the civil team.
  • Set and maintain waste management areas and coordinate with the HSE team on compliant disposal of waste.

2.2 Material Handling, Storage and Preservation Activities

  • Take delivery of all incoming materials and reconcile with purchase orders.
  • Support the tracking, documentation, and resolution of any discrepancies on received orders.
  • Ensure accuracy of the facility’s inventory system by updating records of physical inventory totals, re-ceipts, adjustments, and returns.
  • Manage inventory/supplies and ensure they are within the established minimum and maximum levels.
  • Support in keeping up-to-date records of receipts, records, and withdrawals from the storage facilities.
  • Oversee the handling of freight, the movement of equipment, and minor repairs.
  • Supervise and/or perform offloading of vehicles within storage areas.
  • Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH) Items and correct storage.
  • Handling of delicate installation materials
  • Preservation work on Equipment, under logistics supervisor’s information and instruction.
  • Securing of site materials.

2.3 Other Activities

  • Support with nagging/punch items works and supervision of smaller contractors for defined activities.
  • Act under the supervision of other site supervisors in the resolution of particular activities within their re-spective scope of works, as properly communicated by the Team Leader for the duration of the assignment.
  • Support with the thorough cleaning activities in the Valve Halls in preparation for the valves’ installation.
  • Support with any other activities that are part of the maintenance, material handling or acceptance of the site by the Customer.
  • Complete daily work assignments in a timely and accurate manner.
  • 3 Role Requirements
  • High School diploma
  • Valid driver’s license
  • License/Certifications which represent a plus for any applicant:
  • Material handling equipment certifications, e.g. forklift, telescopic handler certification and other related equipment, or willingness to acquire and maintain certification, or
  • Certified Electrician
  • Computer Skills. Applicants are required to have some computer skills to work with computerized inventory system and data entry skills to update the inventory control system.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English to work effectively with others and maintain appropriate store records.
  • CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) Card or any other applicable HSE certifications/requirements in the country, region or as per contract. Willingness to undergo any applicable certifica-tion to perform their activities in the site.
  • Willingness to attend job training and safety programs organized by their Team Leader /Adhere to Company policies, safety regulations and HSE requirements.
  • Good Health and safety awareness.
  • Maintain high ethical relationships both internally and externally.
  • The role requires certain interaction with visitors and the Customer. Applicants may be required to interface with suppliers and customers, so it is vital that they have a customer-orientation, which is necessary for identifying customer needs, retaining customer, and resolving Customer Issues.
  • Pro-active approach to the works. Able to identify, on their own, deviations and hazards, report them, and implement necessary corrective actions.
  • Organized and able to follow a program of works.
