Summary

The Warehouse Clerk - Receiving is primarily responsible for the activities and operations of the warehouse receiving department, specifically ensuring incoming and outgoing deliveries are routed and delivered as expected. All Warehouse Clerks are cross trained to perform Receiving, Stocking, Kitting and Shipping functions.


Duties and Responsibilities

1. Perform all Shipping Functions on an accurate and timely basis, including:

a) running the daily Shipping Report,

b) running Pick Tickets and labels for items that will ship each day,

c) determining the correct quantity for shipment, then packaging and identifying any excess items so they are both protected and easily retrieved,

d) identifying materials that must be sent out for additional processing (e.g. contacts for plating, components for assembly),

e) packing items in appropriate containers to prevent damage during shipment,

f) arranging for pick-up by specified carriers, or for delivery, and

g) loading boxes, packages, etc., into delivery trucks,

h) perform invoicing function.


2. Perform Receiving functions on an accurate and timely basis, including:

a) unloading boxes, packages, etc., from delivery trucks,

b) inspecting all incoming inventory items,

c) locating the Packing Slip for every receipt, or other identifying paperwork,

d) verifying that Packing Slip matches a valid Purchase Order and entering the necessary information into the computer system, both accurately and timely,

e) determining if items are “Inventoried” or “Non-Inventoried”,

f) moving all “Inventoried” material to QA Receiving area, along with Packing Slip and any other paperwork, and,

g) delivering all other material to the proper department and/or Associate,

h) recording customer returns and supplier rejections using the Non-Conformance database.


3. Perform Stocking functions on an accurate and timely basis, including:

a) verifying that all material delivered from QA Receiving or PSI is properly boxed, labeled (Part #, Trace #, Quantity) and sealed,

b) attaching a Material Activity Record to all packages with the correct part number,

c) reviewing the Shortage List to identify any material that is needed in Manufacturing,

d) placing the material in the proper location in the Inventory area, and

e) restocking any excess material returned from Manufacturing by entering the necessary information into the computer, returning the material to the proper location, and recording the transaction on the Material Activity Record.

4. Perform all Kitting functions on an accurate and timely basis, including:

a) recording the Shop Order number and scheduled completion date on the bin label,

b) counting the required components from the Shop Order/Bill of Material form,

c) recording all Trace Numbers on the Shop Order form,

d) noting any Material Shortages and notifying the Materials Manager,

e) recording the transaction on the Material Activity Record,

f) entering the necessary information into the computer, and

g) delivering the completed Kit to the proper Work Center.


5. Perform actual counts of inventory items during Physical Inventories or for cycle counts.

6. Drive the Company van in a safe manner to make pick-ups and/or deliveries. Notify the Materials Manager of any problems or required maintenance.

7. Operate the tow motor and/or lift truck only after training and conforming to all safety rules.

8. Maintain all areas of the Warehouse, including the van, to ensure efficient operations.

9. Other duties as assigned.


Education & Experience

· High school diploma or GED equivalent.

· At least six months of experience in shipping related position.

· A valid drivers’ license and satisfactory driving record.


Required Skills/Abilities

· Proficient with inventory control systems.

· Thorough understanding of warehouse policies and procedures.

· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

· Excellent time management skills.

· Ability to maintain a calm demeanor under pressure.

· Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.

· Ability to read blueprints, use calipers, micrometers, various gages, (measuring) microscope, and comparator as required.

· Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine notes in logs and reports.

· Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute percentages.


Physical Requirements

· Must be able to complete various activities in the warehouse that may require hours of lifting, standing, and carrying, climbing steps or ladders, stooping and kneeling.

· Must be able to move up to 75 pounds at a time.

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and outside weather conditions.
