Job Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Pediatric Occupational Therapist to join our team at [Center Name]. As a Sensory Integration and Floortime Specialist, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive occupational therapy services to children aged 0-5 years. You will work within a dynamic multidisciplinary team to assess, diagnose, and treat children with sensory processing challenges, developmental delays, and related conditions, utilizing sensory integration and Floortime approaches. Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assessment and Evaluation:

    • Conduct thorough evaluations to assess sensory processing abilities, motor skills, and functional performance of children aged 0-5 years.
    • Utilize standardized assessments, clinical observations, and caregiver interviews to gather comprehensive information and formulate individualized treatment plans.
  2. Treatment Planning and Implementation:

    • Develop goal-oriented treatment plans tailored to the unique needs and strengths of each child, with a focus on sensory integration and Floortime principles.
    • Implement evidence-based interventions and therapeutic activities to improve sensory regulation, motor coordination, social-emotional skills, and self-care abilities.
    • Collaborate closely with families to establish therapeutic goals, provide education, and support caregivers in implementing strategies at home.
  3. Therapeutic Intervention:

    • Provide direct one-on-one therapy sessions and group interventions in a variety of settings, including clinic-based sessions, home visits, and community settings.
    • Facilitate sensory-rich environments and structured play activities to promote engagement, exploration, and meaningful interactions.
    • Incorporate sensory-based modalities, therapeutic equipment, and environmental modifications to support sensory processing and integration.
  4. Documentation and Progress Monitoring:

    • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of assessment findings, treatment plans, session notes, and progress reports in compliance with professional standards and regulatory requirements.
    • Regularly review and update treatment goals based on ongoing assessment data and observations of progress and outcomes.
  5. Interdisciplinary Collaboration:

    • Collaborate effectively with other members of the multidisciplinary team, including speech therapists, physical therapists, psychologists, and educators, to ensure holistic care and integrated support for children and families.
    • Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and professional development activities to exchange knowledge, coordinate care, and promote best practices.
  6. Education and Advocacy:

    • Provide education and training to families, caregivers, and community stakeholders on sensory processing, developmental milestones, and strategies for promoting optimal development and participation.
    • Advocate for the needs of children with sensory and developmental challenges within the community and promote awareness of the importance of early intervention and inclusive practices.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program, or Associates degree for COTAs
  • Current state licensure or eligibility for licensure as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Certification or specialized training in Sensory Integration and/or Floortime approaches preferred.
  • Experience working with pediatric populations, particularly children aged 0-5 years, in clinical, educational, or community settings.
  • Strong clinical skills in assessment, treatment planning, and intervention implementation, with a focus on sensory integration and developmental principles.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively engage children, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Commitment to professional growth, evidence-based practice, and ethical standards in pediatric occupational therapy.
