Surgery Scheduler

Position requires utilization of clinical knowledge to schedule appropriate procedures/surgeries per provider’s orders. The Surgical Scheduler must schedule office based and hospital procedures consistent with the patient’s diagnosis and procedure request. Also requires excellent customer service skills with patients, employees, and the public. The Surgical Scheduler must be able to respond to both written and oral correspondence regarding scheduling changes/cancellations in a timely, accurate manner. Individual must be organized, and be able to manage demanding workload with accuracy.
Essential Functions
·Welcomes patients and visitors by greeting patients and visitors, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries.
· Optimizes patients' satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization by scheduling appointments in person or by telephone.
· Keeps patient appointments on schedule by notifying provider of patient's arrival; reviewing service delivery compared to schedule; reminding provider of service delays.
· Comforts patients by anticipating patients' anxieties; answering patients' questions; maintaining the reception area.
· Ensures availability of treatment information by maintaining electronic medical records.
· Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information.

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, and fax machines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Required Education and Experience
Minimum of a High School Diploma and 1-3 years of experience in healthcare scheduling, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Familiarity with EMR system.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
· Must demonstrate consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail.
· Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills with patients, staff and other healthcare professionals.
· Critical thinking skills and a positive attitude essential.
