POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position Overview:

The role requires a deep understanding of automotive systems and procedures, ensuring accurate repairs in compliance with quality control standards. Effective communication between the Body Shop Manager and the Parts Department is essential for seamless operations. The ability to stay updated through reading manuals, attending product schools, and keeping abreast of technical bulletins is crucial. Detail-oriented work includes visually inspecting damage, estimating repairs accurately, and documenting them thoroughly. Additionally, the role involves interacting with customers and various departments within the retail facility, along with managing paperwork such as repair documentation and charges.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Meet and establish rapport with customers, justify needed repairs and costs, and follow up with customers to ensure satisfaction.
  2. Estimate damage to vehicles visually and dismantle portions of the damaged vehicle as necessary for accurate evaluation.
  3. Complete estimate sheets and work orders to document damage, required repairs, and itemized parts and materials.
  4. Calculate labor and painting costs to determine the total cost of repairs.
  5. Assign repair orders to Body Shop team members based on schedule and technician availability and specialty.
  6. Evaluate the quality of repair jobs by Technicians and ensure repairs meet quality standards.
  7. Understand insurance company estimates of repairs and check them for accuracy and completeness.
  8. Complete parts order sheets for all orders, investigate alternative sources for hard-to-locate parts, and check parts upon delivery.
  9. Work independently, manage time and workflow effectively.
  10. Communicate effectively with customers of varying backgrounds and express sensitivity to their concerns.
  11. Utilize technical competence in automotive systems and repair procedures to accurately estimate repairs.
  12. Oversee multiple jobs simultaneously and maintain attention to detail regarding quality, costs, and workflow.
  13. Fill out accurate estimate sheets, work orders, and parts orders, and post payments on work orders upon job completion.
  14. Work closely with the Parts Department within the retail facility.
  15. Ensure accuracy in estimates by referring to catalogs and manuals for costs and repair procedures.
  16. Maintain quality control and inspection policies and accurately estimate workflow within the Body Shop.
  17. Document repairs, required parts, labor involved, and accurate charges for each.
  18. Complete estimate sheets, work orders, and post customer payments to work orders upon receipt.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a Body Shop Technician or Service Advisor.
  • Deep understanding of automotive systems and repair procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Technical competence in estimating repairs and evaluating quality.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on quality and cost control.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Proficiency in completing accurate paperwork.
  • Familiarity with insurance company repair estimates.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Willingness to collaborate with the Parts Department.
  • Adherence to quality control standards and policies.
  • Continuous learning mindset to stay updated on industry trends.
  • Sensitivity to customer concerns and commitment to customer satisfaction.

It involves frequent interaction with customers, insurance company representatives, and various departments within the establishment. The consultant must communicate congenially, addressing customer concerns and ensuring satisfaction. Attention to detail is crucial, as the role requires accurately estimating repairs, referencing catalogs and manuals, and maintaining quality control standards. The consultant works closely with the Parts Department, coordinating orders and ensuring timely repairs. The atmosphere is focused on efficiency, quality, and maintaining a smooth workflow within the Body Shop.
