1st Choice is seeking a qualified Registered Dental Hygienist to join our team and provide essential dental services to our government client. In this role, you will play a vital role in promoting oral health education and delivering preventive dental care to County residents.
Role Summary: Provide dental health outreach, education, and case management alongside prophylactic dental treatment to County residents. Engage with diverse individuals and professionals in various settings, explaining and coordinating public dental health education and individual care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform dental inspections and prophylaxis.
- Provide oral health care instructions and educational services.
- Conduct dental examinations, radiographs, and care for oral conditions.
- Collect and record patients' medical and dental histories.
- Plan and conduct oral hygiene education sessions for various demographics.
- Motivate patients to follow professional dental advice.
- Manage patient cases, including referrals and follow-ups.
- Maintain dental instruments, equipment, and supplies.
- Keep accurate records of dental clients and program activities.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Core dental hygiene sciences and clinical techniques.
- Knowledge of common oral diseases and their impact on health.
- Dental radiology principles and safety practices.
- Public health dental clinic procedures and administrative requirements.
- Oral health education principles for diverse groups.
- Proficient use and care of dental instruments and equipment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Case management and referral skills.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 1 year as a Dental Hygienist or teaching dental hygiene.
- Education: Graduation from an ADA-CODA accredited Dental Hygiene school.
- Licensure: Valid Maryland State Dental Hygienist license, CPR certification, and a valid Class "C" driver’s license.
- Core medical exam required.
