The Philanthropy Officer works to help build and sustain a robust major gifts program to further the organization’s mission of ending animal cruelty. The Philanthropy Officer forges relationships, develops and executes tailored strategies to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of mid-major donors and prospects, and tracks and reports results.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Closely work with the Development Director and philanthropy consultants on mid-major gifts program strategies and planning
  • Lead prospect research on existing and potential Pasado’s Safe Haven major donors
  • Conduct qualification calls to major donor prospects
  • Identify mid-major gift prospects and develop compelling engagement strategies
  • Prepare solicitation planning sheets and proposals for meetings with individual mid-major gift donors and prospects
  • Coordinate donor cultivation and stewardship activities with the Sr. Major Gifts Officer, Development Director, Executive Director, and volunteers
  • Conduct one-to-one cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship meetings with donors and prospects
  • Secure mid-major gifts and commitments to meet annual fund goals
  • Track progress against annual and multiyear portfolio goals and benchmarks
  • Participate in the planning and execution of our annual fundraising event
  • Lead the coordination of Pasado’s major donor circle, Pasado’s Circle, including donor stewardship events and benefit fulfillment
  • Maintain prospect lists and prospect tracking reports, utilizing development CRM
  • Participate as a member of the Development Department team
  • Provide staff support to relevant volunteer committees
  • Other duties as assigned by management

 

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • Passionate about our mission of ending animal cruelty
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Highly organized and self-motivated; ability to work independently and collaboratively as situations warrant
  • Proven ability to create and manage a mid-major ($1,000+) gifts portfolio
  • Minimum 5 years of proven fundraising experience for non-profit organizations relevant to the responsibilities, or equivalent combination of education, skills, and experience
  • A successful track record in setting priorities; keen analytic, organization, and problem-solving skills that support and enable sound decision making
  • Ability to stay focused on outcomes with competing priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Positive attitude and mature perspective
  • Proven ability to work and thrive in a team environment 
  • Experience working in a remote or hybrid role
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility and dedication to the mission
  • Comfortable dealing with confidential information
  • Resource development, fundraising or comparable experience
  • Experience with fundraising/CRM software
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends
  • Proficiency with Word and Excel

Employment:

  • Full-time, Non-Exempt (40 hours per week)
  • Onsite at our sanctuary in Monroe, WA
  • Occasional local travel required
  • Occasional weekend and evening event coverage required
  • Salary range $34-$56, starting salary range:  $34-$37,
