Tool Assembler

Location: New Baltimore, MI

The Tool Assembler plays a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of the Assembly department by performing a variety of key duties and responsibilities as outlined below.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Read, understand, and follow advanced job order specifications, blueprints, work instructions, and procedures.
  • Lift, load, sort, and move materials, supplies, and finished products between storage and work areas using a push-cart, hoist, or dolly.
  • Assemble components accurately, thoroughly, and efficiently to meet approved specifications.
  • Operate equipment safely while following proper safe work habits.
  • Examine connections for correct fit and fasten parts and sub-assemblies using hand tools, power tools, or bench machines.
  • Inspect, test, and verify accuracy of assembled products for conformance to standards using measuring or testing equipment or by visual examination.
  • Report any parts or equipment defects to supervisors for prompt action.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace defective product parts using hand tools, power tools, or bench machines.
  • Clean material or machine surfaces using cleaning solutions, rags, or air hoses.
  • Measure and mark reference lines and points on parts according to specifications using a template, rule, or marking device.
  • Cut materials like fabric, metal, paper, or wood into specified dimensions using a cutting machine, scissors, or knife.
  • Rotate through multiple stations during shifts to ensure alertness and readiness.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Six months to one year of related experience and/or training.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance:

  • Must be able to obtain, maintain, and/or currently possess a 'Secret' security clearance.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in reading and understanding blueprints, schematics, and measuring devices.
  • Ability to follow processes and standard procedures.
  • Skilled in using hand tools and power tools.
  • Adaptability to work in a high-energy, rapidly changing environment.
  • Strong initiative, effort, and commitment to completing assignments on time with accuracy.
  • Clear and effective communication skills in both written and spoken forms.
  • Basic computer skills, including tasks like turning the computer on and off, locating files, and conducting online searches.
  • Ability to build constructive relationships and work effectively with team members, management, and customers.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Experience in jig and fixture building, tool and die making, and machine shop theory and practice.

Work Hours:

  • Standard work schedule; overtime may be required for meeting deadlines, travel, and emergent situations.

Travel Requirements:

  • This position may involve up to 20% travel - LOCAL IN US.
