Mechanical Inspectors - $28-30/HR

SUMMARY:

Responsible for visually and mechanically inspecting a wide variety of mechanical products and the setting up of standard measuring equipment to verify product, material and equipment conformance to customer/company specifications.                                                                                                

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Works with complex blueprints, assembly prints and specifications; visually and mechanically inspects parts, subassemblies and assemblies on most company products to ensure conformance to production specifications and quality standards.
• Performs the more standardized incoming, first piece, in-process, final floor, or bench inspection on a variety of parts and products. Generates QC documents as required.                                                                                             
• Sets up and performs complex mechanical inspections.                                                                                    
• Uses surface plate setups to maintain correct geometry during inspections.                                                        
• Uses such equipment as scales, vernier, height sticks, mocrometers, Rockwell tester, plug gauges, coordinate measuring machine and optical comparators while carrying out inspection procedures.          
• Prepares reports and summary sheets, makes calculations and plots graphs indicating rates of acceptance and rejection.    
• Notifies Inspections and Production Supervisors of quality problems.                                                           
• Maintains work area and equipment in a safe, clean and orderly conditions.                                                                                   
• May be called upon to perform production testing.
• Performs other related duties as directed.
