Position Summary:

ISI is looking for an experienced Industrial Hygienist (IH) with a background in the management of hospital compliance programs and occupational health and safety programs. The IH will work to support a Federal client by providing professional consultative advice to management on the safety issues or programs and responsibilities involved in the program management including respiratory protection, environment of care, and life safety inspections. The ability to lead and work as a team AND work independently are critical. ISI is seeking an individual who will be a clear communicator, takes initiative and embraces project ownership.

Responsibilities:

  • Knowledge, gained by a 4 year occupational health & industrial hygiene degree from an accredited university, with experience and training of no less than one year of work in an industrial or hospital or university staff position (not faculty position educating students), and by continuous efforts to keep abreast of the changes in the engineering field; all-encompassing a wide range of concepts, principles, practices and the skill to apply this knowledge to difficult and complex work assignments.
  • Will provide expertise. Will serve a resource for the hospital safety program supporting the overall mission of the facility.
  • Will assist in managing the life safety inspections and burn permit program.
  • Will assist in construction safety inspections.
  • Provide expertise in accident investigations associated with workplace injuries.
  • Assist in developing statements of work and programs to support the safety office.
  • Ability to research and define the situation, the problem, and determine the proper solution with little or no guidance from the safety manager or chief engineer.
  • Judgment shall be used to modify or adopt standard guidelines and practices to solve new problems and situations.
  • Must possess Communication, Language, and Software Skills with the ability to utilize a variety of software programs to monitor, update, and produce work products and compile data and records by applying both knowledge of the construction industry and computer literacy.

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Required:

  • 4 year occupational health & industrial hygiene degree from an accredited university
  • Communication, Language, and Software Skills
  • Ability to exercise good interpersonal skills.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be able to pass and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Physical Requirements:

This job operates in a professional office environment. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Work mostly performed in office environment However, some of the work will involve going into areas involving moderate risks or discomforts requiring special safety precautions. These areas include service rooms, boiler house, chiller plant, and construction sites.

  • Flexibility related to work hours as project demands arise.
  • Occasionally required to move 5 – 15 pounds.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary computer position for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time.

Work Setting/Environment/Travel Requirements:

  • Monday through Friday, Normal business hours 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
  • 10% Travel – May need to travel to other Federal facilities within a 50-mile radius.
