We are seeking an experienced 3-Axis Laser Operator to operate two Mazak lasers.  Minimum 2 years laser operating experience required.  Able to successfully maintain inventory records using computer software.  Proficient in following all safety measures to transport inventory to designated areas throughout the shop floor using hi-lo.  Experience in cutting carbon and stainless steel, and aluminum.  Able to learn AutoCAD and nesting software.

 

Laser Operator Responsibilities

  • Operate Mazak 4000 and 2000 watt, 3-axis lasers
  • Perform machine setup, including start up and shut down procedures, changing of gas bottles, changing of cutting nozzles, adjusting focus and beam alignment, and adjusting cutting parameters as needed
  • Use computer to select proper programs for cutting and material selection
  • Maintain Excel spreadsheet of inventory
  • Perform dimensional inspections on first part
  • Use MRP (computer software) to locate drawings, locate work instructions and log labor hours
  • Operate a hi-lo to move parts
  • Follow safe work practices
  • Stand for long periods of time, climb up and down ladders, bend, grasp, sit, pull, push, stoop, and stretch
  • Use protective equipment (safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, etc.)
  • Perform general maintenance on machines as needed and communicate any needs to maintenance personnel
  • Keep station clean and organized
  • Clearly communicate any issues with supervision
  • Work all required shift hours and overtime when necessary

Laser Operator Requirements

  • Mazak or similar CNC lasers operating experience
  • Computer efficient
  • Able to use and read basic math and measurement devices
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
  • Overhead crane and forklift experience
  • MRP, preferably Epicor, experience is a plus
  • Radan or other nesting software experience is a plus
  • AutoCAD experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of relative safety standards
  • Deftness and attention to detail is a must
  • Good listening habits
  • Able to follow detailed instructions and processes
  • Capable of standing for long periods of time
  • Strong work ethic
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team

Work Environment:

·         Shop floor.

·         This position is in a manufacturing setting using the usual equipment like computers, box cutters, tape guns and material moving equipment such as carts, hand trucks, pallet jacks, etc.

Job Type: Full-time

Wage starting at: $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 54 per week

Schedule:

  • 4 x 10-hour shift

Experience:

  • CNC Laser Operator, 3-axis: 2 years (Required)
  • Manufacturing: 2 years (Required)Top of Form
  • Microsoft Excel: 2 years (Preferred)
