Job Title: Server Administrator

Overview:

The Server Admin is responsible for the configuration, maintenance, and optimization of client server infrastructure. Ensure the stability, security, and efficiency of servers to support client business operations and applications. This role requires strong technical expertise in server administration, networking, security protocols, and troubleshooting skills.

Server Deployment and Configuration:

   - Install, configure, and maintain server hardware and software.

   - Implement server operating systems and ensure compatibility with      organizational requirements.

   - Configure server parameters, settings, and access controls based on security policies and operational needs.

Performance Monitoring and Optimization:

   - Monitor server performance metrics, such as CPU usage, memory utilization, and disk space.

   - Identify performance bottlenecks and implement optimization strategies to improve efficiency.

   - Conduct regular performance tuning and capacity planning to accommodate growth and resource demands.

Security Management:

   - Implement and maintain server security measures, including firewalls, antivirus software, and intrusion detection systems.

   - Apply security patches and updates to mitigate vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with industry standards.

   - Perform regular security audits and risk assessments to identify and address potential security threats.

 Backup and Disaster Recovery:

   - Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to safeguard critical data and ensure business continuity.

   - Test backup systems regularly to verify data integrity and restore capabilities in the event of system failures or disasters.

   - Document and maintain recovery procedures to facilitate swift response to emergencies.

User Support and Troubleshooting:

   - Provide technical support to users and resolve server-related issues in a timely manner.

   - Troubleshoot hardware and software problems, diagnose root causes, and implement solutions.

   - Collaborate with other IT teams and vendors to resolve complex issues and escalate, as necessary.

Documentation and Reporting:

   - Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of server configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.

   - Generate regular reports on server performance, security incidents, and maintenance activities for management review.

   - Keep abreast of industry trends and best practices to continuously improve server administration processes.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field.

- Minimum of 5 years proven experience as a server administrator.

- Proficiency in server operating systems (e.g., Windows Server, Linux) and virtualization technologies.

- Strong knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, and security principles.

- Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery solutions.

- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

- Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, CompTIA Server+, Cisco Certified Network Associate) are a plus.

Working Conditions:

- Office environment with occasional on-call duties to address server emergencies.

- May require occasional lifting of equipment and working in confined spaces.

- Flexible working hours may be necessary to accommodate maintenance tasks and system upgrades.

- Must have a valid Driver’s License.
