Job Summary

Performs duties associated with the buying process and develops the master manufacturing/production schedule for an organization.

Job Duties

  • Research products, prepare purchase orders and place orders, and select vendors
  • Organize product information and track back orders
  • Obtain materials from suppliers at the lowest cost consistent with considerations of quality, reliability of source and urgency of need
  • Study market trends, interview vendors and recommend sources of supply
  • Analyze quotations received, select or recommend suppliers, and schedule deliveries
  • Develop and maintain necessary records and files for efficient operation
  • Coordinate and monitor production cycles
  • Effectively communicate all pertinent schedules and deadlines to production staff
  • Forecast and establish appropriate inventory levels
  • Ensure that production output meets organizational expectations
  • Assist with planning made-to-stock or made-to-order operations
  • May plan and schedule outgoing shipments from the manufacturing location
  • Complete all necessary documents fully and accurately
  • Adhere to 5S standards (e.g., maintain cleanliness of work area, etc.)
  • Follow all Safety, Environmental and Quality policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Experience and Education

  • Perform work under minimal supervision
  • Automotive MPL customer systems knowledge (EDI, Super-G, Covisnt, MMOG, etc.), preferred
  • Experience with Plex ERP or similar ERP/MRP planning software, preferred
  • Handle complex issues and problems and refer only the most complex issues to higher-level staff
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of subject matter
  • Provide leadership, coaching and/or mentoring to a subordinate group
  • Typically require a bachelor's degree and 4 to 6 years of experience
