ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:          

 

Removes dirt, rock and tree debris from gutters and downspouts to ensure water drains properly and downspouts are not plugged. Removes debris from the sloped roofs by using a leaf blower, sweeping and/or raking. Verify splash blocks are in place and keeps track of gutters in need of repair. Remove and haul away debris from each building as completed

Paints curbs with Airless paint sprayers and drives light and heavy vehicles and equipment; maintains tools inventory, records, and equipment in good working order.

 

EQUIPMENT OPERATED:

 

Truck, airless sprayer, compressor, water blaster, high pressure sand blaster, scaffolding, ladders, leaf blower, brushes and rollers.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to dust, dirt, solvent fumes and normal outdoor elements.  Works from a man lift up to 40 feet above ground.

 

 

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Educational development which produces the ability to read, write and apply common sense understanding to the carrying out of oral or written instructions, street painting and operations of maintenance equipment or any equivalent combination of education and experience that produces the following:

 

·         Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the job

·         Knowledge of the work hazards and applicable safety precautions associated with assigned equipment and operations.

·         Ability to perform the field maintenance requirements of assigned equipment.

·         Ability to perform manual work requiring physical strength and stamina appropriate to the area of assignment.

·         Ability to read and write work-related job instructions in English.

·         Ability to communicate effectively with others in English and Spanish.

·         Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, departments and the public.

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

·         Possession of a valid California Driver’s License.

·         Ability to pass respiratory pulmonary function test and annual medical examination.

·         Ability to pass qualitative and/or quantitative respirator fit test.

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:    

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk, hear, see, and to use hands to finger, grasp, kneel, pull, push, stoop, balance, climb, crouch, and lift up to 20 lbs.   The employee is regularly required to stand for periods of up to 6 hours. The employee is occasionally required to carry, kneel, pull, push, stoop, lift up to 100 lbs., and work at heights up to 40 feet.

 

 

MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:       

 

While performing the duties of this job the employee reads, solves problems, uses his verbal and written communication skills, and is able to handle frequent customer contact.
