The Store Associate team leader works in the San Marcos Maya's Cookies kitchen to complete any task including but not limited to preparing ingredients, baking, washing dishes, cleaning, customer service, cashier, stamping bags, as well as assisting with other tasks if needed. They will apply advanced skills and expertise skills in procedures, techniques, tools, materials, and/or equipment. Directs subordinates to achieve assignments using established guidelines, procedures and policies by providing leadership to a unit or group of employees, assigning tasks and checking work at frequent intervals to ensure bakery goals are met within organization goals, time requirements and high level of quality.

Responsibilities

  • Be comfortable standing for the entirety of the shift.
  • Perform stocking, food prep, cleaning and sanitation tasks as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to all food safety and regulatory duties required in the department.
  • Consistently adhere to all company policies and procedures in a professional and respectful manner.
  • Respond positively to feedback.
  • Arrive to work on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work.
  • Work all scheduled shifts and attend required training and meetings.
  • Restock cookies as needed - Display should always be full. 
  • Always wear an apron while baking cookies. 
  • Company shirt uniforms are mandatory for all employees everyday.
  • Provide a positive professional customer service experience with fair, friendly, and courteous service. 
  • Resolve customer issues and answer questions.
  • Forms, cuts, molds, shapes, and bakes cookies as needed. 
  • Monitors cooking completion times.
  • Checks product to ensure it meets Maya’s Cookies quality standards.
  • Bag and box products for customers carefully. 
  • Collects payments by accepting cash and/or credit card transactions. 
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. 
  • Responsible for ensuring all production paperwork is complete and accurate. 
  • Give feedback and train others as necessary.
  • Check stock levels for supplies and materials. 
  • Maintain high standards of quality control, hygiene and safety. 
  • Assist with all cleaning duties as stated on opening/closing checklists.
  • Performs opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned.
  • Performs other duties assigned by the production manager or CEO.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • 2-3 years of previous experience in food manufacturing/bakery supervision. 

Physical Requirements 

  • Lift and carry moderate to heavy loads (minimum of 25 lbs).
  • Capable of standing and being physically active for extended periods of time.
  • Must have reliable transportation. 
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting and reaching.
