Welder/Welding Helper (1st shift) (CTH)

$23-$28 hr for Helper, $28-$33 hr for Welder

Aegis Worldwide is partnered with a client in the manufacturing industry looking to hire a TIG Welder and a Welder Helper in Roselle, IL This role is contract-to-hire, first shift, and they are looking for someone who'd like to learn and make an advancement in their welding career. 

Responsibilities

The Welder Helper will be responsible for all the prep work and cutting of steel for their projects. While the title may vary across companies, this role is typically an entry-level position to gain valuable experience before moving into a full-time welder role. Responsibilities include using a tape measure to mark cuts and drill holes in the steel. After marking, they will use a horizontal band saw and drill press to cut and drill the steel. Additionally, they will grind and polish the steel to ensure a smooth, cosmetic finish. In summary, this role involves measuring, cutting, drilling, grinding, and polishing steel for Equip Solutions' water treatment equipment.

The Welder will be carrying out the GTAW TIG Welding process mainly on stainless steel.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED. - Associate degree or Technical Degree in Welding would be a plus. 
  • 1+ years as a welder helper or related technical position 
  • Must be able to read a Tape Measure. 

  • Mathematical Skills – need to convert decimals to fractions for measurements.

  • Experience using a horizontal Band Saw and Drill Press
  • Able to use basic Shop Tools 
  • Experience in Grinding and polishing Metal for a good cosmetic final polish.
  • Experience in using Metal Grinding/Polishing tools.
  • Must be able to stand for 10 hours while working.
  • Must be able to lift at least 50LBS.
