Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDescription:The Practice Biller is responsible for a variety of duties pertaining to clients, staff, and business administration support on a daily basis. First and foremost, the practice biller upholds the values and mission behind HCC's pursuit to support individuals in finding their true selves. They are knowledgeable of HIPAA guidelines and the importance of quality assurance in a growing practice. Working with a busy team of clinicians and business owner, the practice biller must also be able to work independently and supportive of the changes that come with growth. They are technology savvy, a quick learner, and able to use a variety of tools for problem solving. Being extremely organized, responsible, and a good communicator are a must. Finally, the practice biller needs to maintain a pleasant demeanor as we seek to ensure our clients and staff feel welcome whether working with HCC remotely or in our office.  This position requires a 90 day probationary period upon hire; offers are contingent on satisfactory criminal background checks and references checks. This is a part time position that has the opportunity to become a full time position with benefits as we grow.  

Functions:

  • Emailing and answering the billing line.
  • Invoices, bills and works with third party payers as related to billing.
  • Submit claims, manage client accounts and balances.
  • Process copays, payments, refunds and balances due.
  • Make payment arrangements and collect monies owed from clients.
  • Monitor payments entered into the EHR system by clinicians and independently resolve issues that arise.
  • Process remittances and update the clinician’s spreadsheets daily.
  • Resolve payment disputes between counselors, clients, and insurance companies.
  • Updating credit card forms on file.
  • Uploading paperwork into the EHR system.
  • Support calls with staff, insurance, EHR system.
  • Credentialing new hires with insurance companies.
  • Protect clients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office/excel, google suite, pdf editing, EHR system use, HIPAA regulations a must.
  • Assists with special projects as needed.
  • Cross trained with administrative staff to cover when they are out of the office.
Practice Biller Skills and QualificationsA Practice Biller is a professional with a business or mental health background who uses their industry knowledge, soft skills and technical abilities to handle the day-to-day elements of the practice billing. These skills and abilities include:·        Highly proficient use of computer technologies such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.·        Proficient in EMR/EHR System.·        Familiarity with insurance verifications, medical benefits, and billing processes.·        Familiar with administrative software for healthcare systems.·        Excellent verbal and written communication skills.·        Excellent customer service with a client focus.·        Ability to multi-task and balance multiple fluctuating priorities at once.·        Maintain strict confidentiality for all client and practice information, consistent with established security and confidentiality policies and HIPAA regulations, at all times.·        Understanding of health and safety standards.·        Flexible in taking on new work assignments and working in new processes. Practice Biller Education and Training Requirements:·        Associate’s degree or equivalent experience required.  Bachelor’s degree preferred.
