We are looking for ACCOUNTING CLERKS, A/P . Immediate hiring

Accounting Clerk

  • Maintains accounts receivable module by creating accounts receivable invoices, tracking outstanding balances on accounts and loan receivables, applying payments against customer account balances and makes related journal entries.
  • Communicates with departments (including Bridge Operations, Legal, River link Ferry) to create invoices and to accurately track outstanding accounts receivable.
  • Runs accounts receivable aging report upon request from Director of Finance or CFO. Contacts delinquent customers to insure prompt payment of past due receivables.
  • Reviews all checks for deposit that are sent to Finance for proper supporting documentation, assigns accounting codes, processes/initiates bank deposits, and makes appropriate accounting entries. Prepares and deposits checks in payment of Regional Economic Development loans, handles inquiries and prepares monthly report for CEO on outstanding loan balances.
  • Performs monthly bank statement reconciliations to ensure that accurate balances are reflected in both the general ledger and accounts maintained by the banks. Makes adjusting entries as necessary and communicates discrepancies with bank personal and senior staff.
  • Prepares journal entries as needed on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis as directed by Senior Accountants, Accountant or Director of Finance. Makes entries to track the DRPA’s outstanding contract commitments for all major DRPA contracts and reconciles them monthly.
  • Supports the year-end audit by responding to external audit inquiries regarding accounts receivable transactions and bank account balances. Responds to ad-hoc informational requests from internal audit and other staff. Performs research and inputs journal entries as needed by the Senior Accountant. Supports the accounting staff in the organization, filing and maintaining of financial records.
  • Performs petty cash reconciliations and disbursements for all DRPA personnel at One Port Center (OPC) and ensures coding is correct for A/P reimbursement. Prepares deposits for PATCO checks related to work orders for FTA grants and capital purchases.
  • Reviews outstanding check list annually for NJ and PA escheat requirements, and contacts vendors to inquire about check status. Prepares the 1099-MISC report after year-end and verifies the amounts reported for individual vendors are accurate, researches and corrects any discrepancies in name or tax ID information identified by the IRS.
