Division/Program: Psychiatric Services

Immediate Supervisor: Medical Director

Programs and Positions Supervised: No administrative supervision. Provides clinical supervision to Florida Assertive Community Treatment (FACT) Team staff and Forensic Multidisciplinary Team (FMDT) staff.

Supervision Schedule: Weekly with Board Certified Psychiatrist and as needed.

Non-exempt: 40 hours a week position with 32 hours FACT and 8 hours FMDT

Pay Grade: APRN

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Graduation from an accredited APRN program and current Florida APRN license.

Experience: Two years of clinical experience.

Additional Requirements:

Must be 21 years of age.

Negative Drug Screening prior to hire and throughout employment.

Clear Criminal Background Check throughout employment with Suncoast Center and local checks prior to hire and annually along with DCF Level II prior to hire and as required by DCF, and Must have valid Florida Driver’s License Motor Vehicle checks prior to hire and annually with acceptable driving record maintained throughout employment along with reliable vehicle, valid registration, and valid vehicle insurance. (must be in compliance with Florida Laws and Administrative Codes with fingerprinting and determined to be of good moral character).

Working Conditions: FAC/FMT office, as well as in the community where most contacts occur, and in their homes. Exposure to extreme heat and humidity during the summer months.

Driving Requirements: Personal automobile and current valid Florida driver’s license

Computer Literate

Job Duties:

  • Performs psychopharmacological services for FACT/FMT participants.
  • Monitor non-psychiatric medical conditions and medications.
  • Provide brief therapy and diagnostic and medication education to FACT/FMT participants, with medication decisions based in a shared-decision making paradigm
  • If FACT/FMT participants are hospitalized, FACT/FMT Psychiatric APRN communicates directly with inpatient psychiatric care provider to ensure continuity of care
  • Conduct home and community visits with FACT participants.
  • Provides crisis intervention on site and in the community.
  • Performs diagnostic assessments and evaluations as required.
  • Performs medication checks, evaluating need for and appropriateness of medication, evaluating progress on medication and assessing presence of side effect.
  • Provides adequate education to clients so that they are able to provide fully Informed Consent for treatment.
  • Provides appropriate and adequate treatment to clients with ideal end result being remission of psychiatric symptoms.
  • Participates in treatment plan reviews and makes appropriate referrals within and outside the agency.
  • Encourages client’s involvement and independence by encouraging participation and not accepting responsibility for the client’s behaviors, cognitions or feelings.
  • Serves client in a warm, accepting and respectful manner. Does not impose his/her values during the service contact.
  • Provide clinical supervision to entire FACT/FMT Team.
  • Provides education to FACT/FMT staff regarding psychotropic medications, their side effects, symptom education and management.
  • Supervise medication management system with the FACT nurses
  • Attends FACT/FMT meetings as scheduled.
  • Completes documentation in a timely manner, and includes all pertinent information relating to clients and their care.
  • Accomplishes individual goals set forth in previous evaluation.
  • Adheres to legal requirements and is knowledgeable about agency and professional reporting/confidentiality and Code of Ethics.
  • Assess and review lab tests as appropriate.
  • Ensure auditing results are within acceptable agency standards.
  • Complies with established medical practices and procedures and with the agency policies and procedures manual.
  • Obtains training relevant to job.
  • Participates in scheduled supervision with Medical Director and/or Board Certified Psychiatrist weekly, accepts additional duties as assigned and is responsive to requests from supervisor.
  • Peer Review results are within acceptable agency standards.
  • Shows flexibility, accepts additional duties as assigned and is responsive to requests from supervisors.
  • Works independently without need for constant or excessive supervision
