Mount St. Dominic Academy is an independent all-girls high school, sponsored by the Sisters of St. Dominic and located in Caldwell, New Jersey. The Mount is currently seeking resumes from qualified educators of diverse backgrounds who are committed to fostering an environment of equity and belonging and are interested in a full-time Principal role for the 2024-25 school year. This position reports directly to the Head of School. With a commitment to the values of Veritas and Caritas - truth and love - this enthusiastic and inspiring academic leader will:

  • Oversee curriculum development and academic operations in alignment with the school's Dominican mission and focused outcomes, and promote a culture of academic integrity, responsibility, and commitment among students.
  • Manage a team of department chairs and faculty members, providing mentorship, guidance, and support as well as regular evaluations and professional development opportunities to facilitate professional growth.
  • Work closely with the Director of Student Life, School Counseling Department, and other administrators to support students' academic progress and needs, including academic planning and interventions as well as participation in community initiatives and activities.
  • Serve as a proactive resource for students, parents, and faculty members regarding academic issues, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Support the work of the Admissions, Development and Campus Ministry teams.
  • Actively participate in school-wide events and committees to contribute to the overall development and enhancement of the school community.

Requirements:

  • A master’s degree in educational leadership or similar is preferred.
  • An understanding of the unique academic and social-emotional needs of adolescent girls is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years administrative or departmental leadership involving curriculum development and faculty observation, evaluation, and mentoring.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of teaching experience, preferably in upper school grades.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective differentiation techniques in delivery and assessment of learning, including the ability to integrate technology to enhance student achievement.
  • Demonstrated work using data to enhance learning outcomes.
  • The inclination and motivation to seek out opportunities to collaborate with peers.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and lifelong learning
