Full Job Description

This position is responsible for providing support for a range of accounting functions in a growing administrative office.  The ideal candidate will be a hard-working professional with an interest in the accounting field.  The nature of this position requires a high degree of discretion and attention to detail.  Tasks will be completed as a team as well as independently, so excellent organizational and time management skills are essential.  This is a full-time, in-person position located in downtown Walnut Creek, CA. 

 

Responsibilities

·         Support accounts payable function to ensure vendors receive timely payments and that financial reports are up-to-date with appropriate expense coding

·         Assist with inventory tracking and periodic physical inventory counts.

·         Manage bank account activity to ensure timely entry into accounting software

·         Provide backup support for payroll functions

·         Assist with month-end accruals and reconciliations for a variety of accounts including revenue, payroll, and intercompany transactions

·         Provide support for other accounting/data entry, office reporting, and statistical analysis

·         Assist with periodic reporting requirements including business property tax, 1099s, etc.

·         Undertake additional special projects as needed

 

Qualifications/Skills

·         Basic understanding of accounting principles and concepts

·         Strong data entry capability

·         10-key proficiency

·         Thorough understanding of office procedures and working knowledge of standard office equipment

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·         Ability to identify and resolve problems as they emerge

·         Ability to prioritize tasks based on deadlines/workflow and communicate progress with team members

·         Degree in accounting, finance, or similar field of study at associate level or higher

·         Minimum of 2 years experience in accounting support role preferred

·         Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered

 

 

Software Skills

·         QuickBooks Online – Preferred

·         Bill.com experience - Preferred

·         MS Office proficiency with intermediate knowledge of Excel formatting, formulas and functions. – Required

·         Windows OS proficiency – Required
